9 great Melbourne comedy gigs to check out in February

With the world sometimes a little crazy and stress levels at an all time high, there’s nothing better than going out for a laugh.
With international comedians still a long way off returning to our stages, we get a bunch of awesome performances from some great comedians on our doorstep.
Melbourne has no shortage of comedy theatres, so it’s quite easy to find a comedy show near you. Today we dive into some of the coolest comedy gigs of this month.

Amazing Traveling Comedy Tour (ATCT)
If you’re in the Eastern Suburbs and don’t feel like traveling around the city, don’t worry, great comics are waiting for you! The ATCT is dedicated to bringing Australia’s best comedians to areas and regional towns that don’t typically have many shows nearby.
This show will be set in the suburb of Knox and will feature Kirsty Webeck, Matt Stewart and Emma Holland, as well as Mike Goldstein who you may have seen in The Hundred with Andy Leeand Claire Hooper who is known for her work on The Project.
It’s happening tonight, and you can get your tickets herethey start at around $30.
Comedy Login
Comedy Connection is a great regular comedy night that always makes guests who attend laugh, perfect for brightening up a bad day or putting a smile on your face before you embark on the weekend.
The show is set at the impressive Comedy Republic and typically operates on a rotating roster of comedians, but has recently included Rhys Nicholson, Sami Shah, Claire Hooper and more. Every night with a Comedy Connection show, Comedy Republic also has great drink deals, making it an even better experience.

Geraldine Hickey
She’s one of our country’s most prolific performers, and she’s hitting the road this year. Geraldine Hickey has been garnering a lot of attention for her work recently, recently winning Most Outstanding Show at the 2021 Melbourne Comedy Festival, so you know it’s going to be an awesome show, one that will keep you laughing.
She takes to the Malthouse Outdoor stage and will be supported by great comedians like Alex Ward, Jordan Barr, Vidya Rajan and Celia Pacquola.

Chris Franklin
Chris Franklin has been a staple of the Australian comedy scene for several years now, and just keeps getting better. His Australian-based humor has sent him to many places around the world, where he has garnered many loyal fans.
He hits up Melbourne’s The Rubber Chicken with his Bogan Comedy special, which, as the name suggests, is a celebration of all things bogan. He will be joined by Christine Basil, Evan Hocking and Matt Tully.
It’s happening on February 19 and you can pick up your tickets here. It’s also worth noting that everyone in attendance will be able to take home a Bogan Brewery tinnie featuring Chris Franklin and The Rubber Chicken.
Randy Feltface
Perhaps best known for his work with comedian Sammy J, Randy Feltface is hitting the road on his own, coming to the magnificent Atheneum Theater later this month. This show comes after a mandatory cancellation in January, and if you already had tickets, they are still valid for this show.
It’s a whole new hour of material, so don’t worry if you’ve seen it before, this show has a bunch of cool jokes in it. Usually playing musical comedy with Sammy J, Randy’s one-man show will be more joke-focused.

Comedy about dirty secrets
Taking place regularly throughout February at Caz Reitops Dirty Secrets, Dirty Secrets Comedy is an impressive showcase of Melbourne’s top talent, paired with veteran artists who are household names.
It happens every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday in February, with the weekend show starting at 4pm, if you’re not a night owl. Tickets are also only $10, which feels like an absolute steal for the amazing comedians you might see.

Comedy at the Coopers Inn
If you feel like getting out of the house and laughing on a Friday, Comedy at Coopers Inn is the choice for you. It performs weekly throughout the year and features some of Australia’s coolest artists, as well as more well-known comedic geniuses for that extra bit of fun.
In the past, Comedy at Coopers has featured artists such as Dave Thornton, Tom Gleeson and Anne Edmonds.

Comedy Wednesdays at George’s Bar
In what seems to be a theme with Comedy in Melbourne, we have another weekly bar comedy show courtesy of George’s Bar.
Every week some of Melbourne’s finest comedians and comic minds grace the stage at George’s Bar for a killer set. Best of all, the shows are free! You can snag some future Melbourne International Comedy Festival headliners for nothing. The February 9 show features the incredible star Sami Shah.

Firebomb: Experimental Comedy
If you’re someone with huge comedy cred and looking for something a little different, this is the show for you. It’s about putting some of our best actors under pressure, for a 1 hour set on high heat.
A theme is proposed to them and, like all good comedians, their objective is to make us all laugh. It promises to be a great show, and it’s happening at Club Voltaire on February 26, and tickets are only $10! Performers that night include He Huang and Jez Watts, two incredible comedians who have flown under the radar for far too long.
