Alicia Silverstone is looking to go back to school, embarking on the new comedy project Senior Year for Paramount Players.

The 44-year-old actress joined the growing cast alongside Rebel Wilson, Justin Hartley, Angourie Rice, Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Mary Holland and Chris Parnell, according to Deadline.

The project comes just over 25 years after Silverstone’s pivotal role as Preferred Cher in the 1995 classic comedy Clueless.

Paramount Players is a division of Paramount Pictures that focuses on “contemporary properties” which are sometimes based on properties owned by Paramount’s parent company, Viacom, such as Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

The story follows a cheerleader who wakes up from a 20-year-old coma and returns to her old high school, determined to win the title of prom queen that has always eluded her.

Alex Hardcastle will make his feature film directorial debut, after two decades of directing television episodes for shows such as Parks and Recreation, The Middle, Super Fun Night, Suburgatory, The Mindy Project, You’re The Worst and Grace and Frankie.

Hardcastle will work from a screenplay by Brandon Scott Jones, a comedic actor who is making his debut in writing feature films.

Hardcastle and Jones will reunite with Wilson, Hardcastle directing episodes of his Super Fun Night series and Jones playing alongside him in the 2019 movie Isn’t It Romantic.

Jones writes the script based on another spec script from Andrew Knauer and Arthur Pielli.

Todd Garner, Tim Bourne, Wilson and Chris Bender will be the producers, with Jeremy Stein and Jake Wagner as executive producers.

Silverstone broke up with Clueless, having appeared in a number of popular Aerosmith music videos in the early 1990s.

The teen comedy, which followed his character Cher Horowitz and his wealthy and privileged friends, remains a beloved classic to this day.

While there probably isn’t any direct Clueless connection to this project, it could likely draw Clueless fans to the project as Silverstone returns to the high school genre.
