Britain’s Got Talent viewers call for pro stars to be banned as Amazon Prime comedian wins
The opera singer, busker and father from Britain’s Got Talent Sheffield was heartbroken in Sunday night’s final as he failed to even make the top three in the public vote – and instead, professional comedian Axel Blake took the crown.
The father, who honed his craft over years on the streets, was strongly tipped by bookmakers to win the entire contest.
But despite Maxwell winning his semi-final earlier in the week and playing in the coveted final leg of the night, the father couldn’t even qualify for the final three in the public vote.

And Axel Blake was the winner, taking first place in the public vote.
The professional comedian once had a stand-up show on Amazon Prime Video and performed to crowds at the O2 Arena.
Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer act was the big winner – and viewers immediately shouted “fix it” and demanded a rule change to ban professional acts from appearing on the show in the future.
In another shocking twist, recording artist and professional singer The Greatest Showman Loren Allred didn’t even make the final three and therefore had no chance of winning the final at the end as well.
Simon Cowell had told Maxwell Thorpe of Sheffield after his performance: “It’s a big deal but it’s just your luck that any other year you would have walked this but there are really 5 or 6 people in running and I have no idea how it’s going to turn out.
“But bravo for spending all that time preparing on the pavement, and I honestly think it’s my favorite final I’ve ever judged.”
And fans were quick to stick the knife in the result.
