Discovery buys Quintus’ prison series
Discovery in Latin America and Iberia has secured the rights to the third season of Behind Bars – The Hardest Prisons In The World by Quintus Media.
The show, produced by German factual producer Maximus Film, provides unprecedented access to some of the most notorious detention centers on the planet, including Zhytomyr Prison in Ukraine, Jefferson City Correctional Facility and Maafushi in the Maldives.
Pre-sale agreements for the third edition were also made with SBS Viceland in Australia (via Parade Media), Bell Media in Canada and WELT Germany, while AMC Networks International – Central and Northern Europe for Spektrum in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia has acquired all three seasons.
Disney goes after ZAG Phantom force
Disney Channels in the United States has acquired a series of children’s action comedies Phantom force.
The show, created and produced by Jeremy Zag, is aimed at children ages 6-10 and follows three middle school students who form a secret team to defend their city from the horrific ghouls that haunt it.
It premieres October 4 on Disney XD, with new episodes on weekdays. The deal includes rights to the 52 x 11 minute show in North America, Japan and India, in addition to existing deals with Disney Channel EMEA, Russia and the Middle East.
Ghostforce premiered in France on TF1 in August and Disney Channel has already launched the series in Germany and Israel, with additional territories rolled out this fall.
