Doogie Kameāloha, MD Episode 109: Scutwork Review

Doogie wants everything to be perfect for Walter’s birthday before he leaves for two months to participate in the Australian Surfing Tour in the latest episode of the Disney + Original series, âDoogie KameÄloha, MDâ But, of the point. In Doogie’s view, everything is bad. Dr Lee gets her to log her surgery records, her two friends at the hospital leave to do their own business first, and her friends and brothers spoil the cake she paid a lot of money for, before trying. make a new one themselves. But, in the end, she learns the true measure of friendship from her friends, Walter and even Dr. Lee as she experiences a medical emergency within her own family.
This is a big improvement over last week’s episode, although some are disappointing. This series needs both teen drama and comedy to really hit its mark. The episodes that were purely teen comedy didn’t work in my opinion. But, you don’t want a show whose main character is a teenage doctor to be so serious that teens won’t want to watch it. It’s a fine line to go, and this series hasn’t done it very well overall, but when they do it right, they do it really well. This episode pairs well with the stories about Doogie wanting something special for Walter and everything’s bad and parents betting on who can go the longest without checking out, providing a nice contrast to the story of his ailing great-uncle. of a heart problem and the pain her father feels at the thought of losing his uncle. It’s the perfect mesh of comedy and drama.
We also see the character development of Doogie’s Friends. We know Steph will do anything for his best friend and has a crush on Doogie’s brother. But, we see her being a true friend of Kai’s instead of just her little sister’s friend. This leads to a moment when he kisses her. She thinks he did it as a distraction to keep Doogie’s eyes on the cake, and while that is definitely part of it, he also finds a certain type of feeling for her from the way she supported him. during this time when they spoiled Walter’s cake. We see her two close friends in the hospital, who initially abandoned her to avoid the scutwork, come to help her as they want her to be able to spend time with Walter. And, Dr. Lee proves he’s not exactly a villain like the show has put him up so far. He challenges Doogie’s mother for the chief of staff position and he gave Doogie the scutwork job, but when she needed the best cardiologist on the island, she called him and he came running because ‘He will always help other doctors when they really need help. He’s not a bad guy. It’s the most important character development we’ve seen for people outside of Doogie’s family in this entire series.
I believe there is only one episode left and I hope it continues the trend of two of the past three weeks. I don’t think this series has really taken a step forward, but it has been shown to have potential if there is a season two. I’m just not sure it went well enough to get a second season.
