Emma Thompson’s sex comedy ‘Leo Grande’ is heading straight to Hulu

Emma Thompson directs Sundance feature, Good luck to you, Leo Grande. The British sex comedy-drama, which also stars Daryl McCormack, sees Thompson’s character Nancy Stokes as a widowed, retired high school religious studies teacher who has never had an orgasm. According to The Hollywood Reporterthe film, directed by Australian director and producer Sophie Hyde, will stream exclusively on Hulu in the US

McCormack plays the title character, Leo Grande, a sex worker who is hired by Stokes to bring some much-needed adventure and excitement into his life, after what was seen as a passionless marriage. In a review of the film by Weekly entertainmentMcCormack is said to shine as Grande, an attractive Irishman, while Thompson, a veteran and two-time Oscar winner is seen as a “force: alternately fragile and vulnerable and biting in wit.”

The script for the British film was written by comedienne Katy Brand, and while its target audience is undoubtedly older female viewers, Emma Thompson being a household name is sure to attract more viewers from other demographics. The sex movie is expected to do well on streaming giant Hulu’s site. It is also referred to as McCormack’s breakout role as the lead actor. Previous acting roles he has held include the 2020 comedy-thriller, Elfalongside Olivia Cooke, and a minor role in Peaky Blinders. He also held titular roles in West End productions, such as Romeo in Romeo and Julietand Othello in the recent adaptation of the play.
