Labour’s Ed Miliband responds to the Conservative Trade Minister after telling Nick Ferrari that Ed has ‘a lot to answer for’ for opposing fracking.

It came after Tory Trade Minister Greg Hands joined Nick Ferrari this morning and reacted to Mr Miliband’s promise that a Labor government would ban all fracking:

‘I like Ed but he has a lot of accountability, he was energy secretary in the last Labor government which didn’t produce nuclear,’ Mr Hands said.

Nick Ferrari echoed the minister’s comments later when he spoke to Labour’s climate secretary Ed Miliband.

“And he says under your watch, of course, a lot of the issues that we inherited from you,” Nick shared.

“He’s got a career in stand-up comedy to look forward to, I think,” Ed Miliband responded to Mr. Hands’ comments.

Mr. Miliband went on to imply that the Trade Minister’s remarks were hypocritical:

“Greg Hands opposed fracking a few months ago as Minister of Energy! Because it was government policy at the time, because they said fracking wouldn’t make any difference on the costs.”

Prime Minister Liz Truss has pledged to secure more fracking licenses to increase shale gas supply, Ed Miliband has publicly chastised the policy move and instead promotes renewable energy sources.

This morning, Ed Miliband told Nick Ferrari that ‘fracking is not an economically viable answer for us’, explaining how ‘dangerous and costly’ the practice is.

He went on to castigate the current government for inflicting “dangerous and extreme” energy ideas on the UK.
