LOVE In fact, child star Lulu Popplewell looks unrecognizable 18 years after she starred in the festive film.

The 30-year-old was just 12 when she played Daisy, daughter of Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman.

Daisy hilariously stole the show when she dressed up as a lobster in the school nursery play.

Now 18 years later, Lucy is a comedian and is currently preparing for her next comedy show, Goblin, at the Museum of Comedy in London.

In addition to her role in the beloved film, she voiced Lyra in the BBC Radio 4 version of His Dark Materials.

Although she won the hearts of moviegoers as a Christmas crustacean, Lulu admitted that she thought the Richard Curtis movie was actually “shit.”

Speaking on the Almost Famous podcast last year, she said, “I don’t regret it at all. Listen, softly, I think this is a movie like **.

“I think he’s aged badly. All the women in there are sort of passive items. I think there was an article describing them as passive items to acquire.

“Watching again is not great. You also have to remember that [Richard Curtis] wrote in the context of the time.

“I mean, I don’t know how he excuses more recent work. But that was in 2003 or whenever he was released.

“But it’s also not for me because I don’t like cheese. I’m glad people like it.”

Love Actually, directed and written by Richard Curtis, has followed eight London couples facing different relationship complications.

At the heart of the story is Hugh Grant, who plays the Prime Minister, who falls in love with a member of his team, played by Martine McCutcheon.

And as the story progresses crescendo, viewers learn that Hugh’s character is Emma Thompson’s brother – and in turn, Christmas Lobster’s uncle.

Remembering first meeting Hugh, Lulu revealed the hilarious exchange she had with the 61-year-old.

She said: “I also remember meeting Hugh Grant because Richard introduced me to him.

“And he said, ‘Oh my God, should I talk to him? I hate children.’ No irony. Which I found really funny.”

Lulu also revealed that she was not allowed to watch the film when it was released because she was too young.

She continued, “I wasn’t even allowed to look at him when he came out because it was a 15 – there are nipples and everything.”
