Melbourne comedy festival hits Hedland
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow takes place this Friday at the Matt Dann Theater and Cinema for two hours of live laughs.
Hosted by Australian comedy veteran Kevin Kropineyeri, the show features performances by Nikki Britton, Patrick Collins and Randy Feltface.
Last year, the show was canceled due to COVID-19, but it is now playing in 80 theaters across the country.
Comedian and puppeteer Heath McIvor, known for his stage alter ego Randy Feltface, said he has performed with MICFR for several years across Australia.
“The MICFR is rebounding across the country. I’ve been to great places everywhere, everywhere from Broken Hill to Mildura and now this WA leg, ”he said.
McIvor said he enjoys doing regional shows and this is his first time performing on the WA portion of the tour.
“It’s exciting to do Broome and Port Hedland, then we go down to Karratha after.”
The MICFR always offers a different range each year.
“This is one of those touring shows where the festival always puts together great lineup and takes the best of the festival to any city too far away to be in Melbourne.”
McIvor said he believes regional audiences differ from big city crowds and people are often more enthusiastic about the show.
“People in small towns are enthusiastic, they are ready to laugh. Sometimes in the city people sit down and say “impress me”.
The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Matt Dann Theater and Cinema.
