Monday, December 20, 2021 LONDON, United Kingdom – With this Christmas being the first time in two years that we’ll be celebrating the holiday season with extended family and friends, a new study[1] reveals that more than a third (38%) of Britons admit to feeling “lacking in training”.

Commissioned by Samsung KX, the research reveals the topics of conversation we dread this Christmas and the most awkward moments of the holiday season.

Almost a quarter of the nation dislikes gossip during the holiday season, 41% feeling “awkward” and “embarrassed” when asked about their love life, and 15% admit they are struggling. feel comfortable answering questions about their career. too much.

However, Brits are still looking forward to the Christmas season, with festive favorites such as turkey (51%), watching Christmas movies (41%) and opening gifts (36%) in the lead.

Samsung KX has teamed up with comedian and TikTok star Abi Clarke, who has entertained the nation throughout the lockdown with her comedy skits, to bring some of our most awkward Christmas conversations to life.

Available to watch on the Samsung KX content hub, Abi showcases the trials and tribulations of conversations with our former “friends at home” over Christmas, such as “the one who is now engaged,” as the study reveals that a third feels uncomfortable meeting friends at home, but do so anyway, every year.

The research also found that a third (32%) of the nation expects to be interviewed by relatives and doesn’t look forward to it this year. Conversational scarecrows we dread include ‘what’s going on in your love life’ and ‘have you ever found a cool partner? “. Other exciting topics include “when are you going to have a baby” and “why aren’t you married? “.

And respondents are in a festive turmoil with good reason, as more than half (57%) said they are asked the same questions every year. When it comes to the topics we prefer to avoid, sex tops the list (39%), followed by love life (31%), politics (29%), and money (28%). And a fifth (21%) of those polled would also prefer to leave discussions on Covid-19 over the holiday season.

Abi uses the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, designed to give users the best memory capture and sharing capabilities, to film the entire sketch.
