Nicole Byer gets hour-long comedy special on Netflix
Nicole Byer, the Emmy-nominated host of Netflix’s “Nailed It” unscripted culinary contest, gets her first hour-long special on the streamer.
The currently untitled special will be filmed at New York’s Gramercy Theater on September 5 and premiered later this year.
“I’m so excited to do this. I’m so thankful that Netflix gives me a nice little platform to have fun, hee hee, ”Byer said in a statement.
In addition to “Nailed It,” which releases its sixth season on September 15, Byer can be seen on Netflix in “Comedians of the World,” where she was the only woman alongside three men from the United States (Neal Brennan , Chris D’Elia and Nick Swardson). His episode of this show is 30 minutes of stand-up.
Byer made history last year when she received her first Emmy nomination in the reality host category; she was the first black woman to participate in this poll. This year, she received her second consecutive nomination in the category and is still the only black woman to be recognized there.
In addition to his work with Netflix, Byer co-hosts TBS’s “Wipeout”; is the author of “#VERYFAT #VERYBRAVE: The Fat Girl’s Guide to being #courious, not a downcast, melancholy, depressed crying girl in a bikini”; and hosts several podcasts, including “Why Won’t You Go Out With Me?” and “Best friends! With Sasheer Zamata. Next, she can be seen in NBC’s “Grand Crew” comedy about a group of friends talking about life and love at a wine bar.
Byer is replaced by WME, Artists First and Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner & Gellman. Its next special is produced by All Things Comedy.
