For the past few months, he has led a quiet life away from the Hollywood spotlight in Sydney with his family.

But Sacha Baron Cohen returned to the limelight on Saturday when he made a surprise appearance at a comedy club in the Moore Park entertainment district.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the British comedian, 49, dressed up as his alter ego Borat and surprised fans by arriving on stage at the end of the showcase.

“He was a surprise guest at the end of the showcase,” said an audience member.

“There were about 100 people in there. They are trying something new.

It comes two weeks after Sacha left fans stunned when he stormed the stage as his original alter ego Ali G.

He reportedly performed two comedy presentations at the comedy club, each set lasting 20 minutes.

A member of the audience said everyone was required to put their phones in “locked pockets” before Sacha took the stage – presumably to prevent the performance from being leaked online.

‘[Sacha] had everyone in stitches, ”the viewer said.

Ali G was the character in the comedy that launched Sacha on the path to stardom.

The satirical character made his debut on the British television program The 11 O’Clock Show in the late 90s, before appearing later on the eponymous spin-off Da Ali G Show in 2000.

Sacha currently lives in Sydney with his wife, Australian actress Isla Fisher, and their three children.
