St Albans Comedy Garden for laughs Verulamium Park
7:00 p.m. July 25, 2022
If you fancy a good laugh, Verulamium Park in St Albans will be the place to be this week.
St Albans Comedy Garden lands in Verulamium Park from Wednesday July 27 to Sunday July 31 for five nights of incredible comedy, beer, cocktails and street food.
The programming of the festival of laughter reads like a who’s who of today’s comedians.
Father Ted star Ardal O’Hanlon, Dylan Moran, award-winning Sara Pascoe, guv’nor himself, Al Murray, German comedian Henning Wehn, Frankie Boyle, Joel Dommett and Ed Byrne are just a few of the great acts who will appear in an all-seated outdoor theater in the park.
The sister team behind the Comedy Garden, Cass Randolph and Will Briggs of 57 Festivals, can’t wait to return.
Cass said: “We are thrilled with this year’s lineup and to be back at Verulamium Park, we had such a great first year last summer, the audience was a total debauchery, much more lively than expected!
“The acts really feed off that kind of energy and in turn give incredible performances.”
Will added: “We have some amazing artists joining us this year, I can’t wait to see Dylan Moran headlining our opening night.”
The outdoor shows kick off on Wednesday July 27 with programming headlined by legendary BAFTA and Perrier Award winner Dylan Moran.
You can catch German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn and master of observation Ed Byrne on stage on Thursday July 28, while Friday night David O’Doherty, Tyrant champ Lou Sanders and Tim Key.
The Saturday afternoon session will feature Sara Pascoe, Simon Amstell and The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett.
The evening session on Saturday July 30 should include former Death in paradise star Ardal O’Hanlon with Reginald D Hunter.
The comedy festival wraps up Sunday July 31 with a bill featuring The Pub Landlord Al Murray, Frankie Boyle and The last step Rosie Jones.
The comedy extravaganza will once again be full with bars serving a selection of craft beers, cocktails and more, plus an array of street food stalls from the leaders of the local street food scene.
This year’s event is in partnership with heycar. Commercial Director Karen Hilton said, “The line-up is truly world-class, and we’re especially looking forward to seeing the amazing Joel Dommett in action.”
Tickets cost £25 each, plus fees. Doors open for evening shows at 6 p.m., with comedy starting at 7:30 p.m. The Saturday afternoon show begins at 4 p.m., with doors an hour earlier.
