The cabaret artist, who goes by Instagram called ‘stage_door_johnny’, gave his personal take on simple things that are often made difficult by the grammatical peculiarities of the language.

The video shows the comedian discussing the meaning of “road” with himself.

“We need a name for a route that connects two points,” he says. To which the other responds: “A road?

He continues: “Great, it was easy.

“But if there are buildings on it, call it a street.”

Yes. And if there are trees, call it an avenue. “

“Trees as well as buildings?” “

” Is. Both.

“But I thought a road with buildings was a street?” “

“Or an avenue.”

“And if it’s narrow, call it an alley and if it’s wide, call it a boulevard.”

In the following example, he asks if there is a word for getting off a plane. Then, the other answers him: “Disembark”.

“Get off? That’s more it. How about you get off a plane?”

“Get off.”
