The comedy show without Covid is here in two weeks

Reginald D Hunter is headlining the Guernsey Festival of Covid-Safe Comedy on Tuesday May 25 and Wednesday May 26.
Supporting artists Laura Lexx, Scott Bennett and Phil Nichol come from the TV shows Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Pre-registration for tickets is now open.
The announcement is the fulfillment of the longtime ambition of festival co-organizer and island resident Darren Vogel, who has partnered with Just The Tonic comedy club owner Darrell Martin to host the festival. , sponsored by Polygon Collective.
Mr. Vogel wanted to put on a local comedy show for weeks. He said it would be great to have all four acts on a Guernsey stage.
“ Our thanks go to Polygon Collective – without them this would not happen. ”
He said other renowned artists wanted to perform locally at a Covid-free venue, starting with Ed Byrne on June 22 and 23.
“The artists are delighted to be the first European artists to have the privilege of entertaining a non-socially distant audience at full capacity,” said Mr Vogel.
He and Mr Martin hope the experience will allow them to put on more shows in Guernsey while Britain emerges from the lockdown.
Artists will be tested for Covid before their trip and upon arrival on the island, then they will self-isolate in a hotel until negative confirmation.
Mr. Vogel stated that several
âtechnical solutionsâ would be âgently testedâ during this first visit âto improve and guarantee the security of Covidâ.
“These solutions can then be used in the future if the UK, or even Guernsey, experiences a new lockdown that would again threaten the health of the population and the live entertainment industry.”
Mr. Martin can cheer on the editions of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Guernsey if these inaugural comedy nights prove to be successful.
. Tickets go on sale Monday, priced at £ 28 each plus booking fees. Visit: justthetonic.com/guernsey-comedy/ to pre-register.
“ There will be four very excited and rusty comedians ”
ARRIVING in a Covid-free and unrestricted Guernsey will be like a dream, according to one of the four comics.
Throughout the pandemic, performing live in front of a full and unmasked audience without social distancing has been a rarity.
“ I think there will be four of the most horny comedians ever, with a mixture of rusty and horny, ” Laura Lexx said ahead of her visit to the island.
Performing in the pandemic has been ‘a bit of a donut’, with live screenings not resuming until late summer before further cancellations.
âI find that a bit surreal. On stage, I imagine that many of us will say âthat’s good isn’t itâ.
This will be her first visit to Guernsey and she can’t wait to see the sights during down time.
While traveling with Phil Nichol, Scott Bennett and Reginald D Hunter, she said they were a lovely and enthusiastic group.
âIt’s a really nice group of people with a lot of puffs. I’m really looking forward to it. ‘
