The Horne section shoots the Channel 4 pilot – News
Channel 4 is hoping to double its relationship with Alex Horne, by piloting a new show with his band The Horne Section, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.
The creator of Taskmaster and his band mates – Ben Reynolds, Ed Sheldrake, Joe Auckland, Mark Brown and Will Collier – filmed The Horne Section TV show in the spring.
He shares a name with the group’s 2018 pilot for the Dave channel. But BCG understands that the scripted comedy, produced by their management company Avalon, is 30 minutes long rather than the two-hour performance filmed at the London Palladium.
Further details have yet to be revealed, although Horne hinted at “something secret and exciting” in their most recent podcast and the group posted on Instagram in April some cryptic images of themselves in transit with their familiar Henry Hoover accessories:
The Horne section provides the musical theme of Taskmaster, which Channel 4 poached from Dave in 2019, appeared as a group on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and was occasionally the house band of The Last Leg. They currently fulfill the same role on Peter Crouch Year End Euros on BBC One.
The six musicians will begin their That’s How I Like My tour on September 30 at Guildford’s G Live, and have launched a product line including this Horne Session IPA keg of beer:
A Channel 4 spokesperson declined to comment on the pilot.
