Jack Whitehall’s career has skyrocketed over the past two years, having recently starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in the hit movie Jungle Cruise.

The film grossed $ 166 million worldwide, with the 33-year-old staring in three new projects next year, including Silent Retreat, Robots and Mouse Guard.

Travel with my dad took Hollywood by storm – but there seems to be some concern that the jokes he made early in his career could eventually put him in hot water with the cancellation culture. .

In an interview with The Sun, he explained, “I feel like I’ve definitely said some jokes in the past that deserve to be taken down. I guess that’s how we weather this storm. if it ever happens.

“I’ve had it sort of happened a few times and I think maybe people are doing a little better now.

Jack added, “We’ve had a few of these ridiculous cancellations from people because of historical jokes that – especially with a comedian because they were told jokingly and the context was never intended to be. joke – that you tend to get away with it a bit more.

Fans will remember how Jack got into hot water for a series of jokes he made about Little Mix’s performance at the 2019 Brit Awards.

Jack, who was hosting the event that year, told the crowd: “Dads up and down the country are awkwardly looking for a scatter cushion right now.”

More than 25 people reportedly complained to Ofcom about the joke.

There was also a backlash in 2018, when Jack signed on for Jungle Cruise, playing the first openly gay Disney character MacGregor Houghton in Jungle Cruise.

“I auditioned for the movie and it was still an American role, but I think they planned it to be an American actor, originally,” Jack told Metro.

“Then I auditioned for it and got the part. “

He added: “Then I realized afterwards that they were going to surround me with a bunch of English actors, which was quite confusing.

“Because I had to do those scenes where I was trying to do an American accent and everyone was talking with an English accent around me, and trying to get me out of my way.”

Clifford the Big Red Dog is currently in theaters.

He stressed the importance of being able to step away from the stage for a few years to experience life and come back “when I have more to say”.

“I have to try to find something else that is going to be interesting and different and a topic that I can write something about and it will be funny and fresh.”

Jack stars as Casey in the all-new family film Clifford the Big Red Dog, alongside Darby Camp and John Clease.

But getting into character was no easy feat as the Londoner plays an American with an English sister living in New York City, meaning he had to learn an American accent to land the role.
